When Sofia loses her mother, she discovers she has no one to talk to about the stuff going on in her life. After her friend convinces her to go see Miss Kate, the famous advice columnist for Fifteen Magazine, Sofia starts to write to her and is grateful for Miss Kate's responses. When Sofia realizes her father is dating Miss Kate in real life and that Miss Kate has a teenage daughter her age, Sofia finds herself in a truly awkward situation.
